Stop Motion NES
Here's a great video featuring some of our favorite NES games made with various items and stop motion. The first one was "Kirby" which I wasn't a big fan of, but the rest of them are quite enjoyable.

The Old Jumping Over the FlagPole Myth
We all know someone who knows someone who can jump over the flag pole in the original Super Mario Bros. Here is a video that takes us through some various tests on jumping the pole. How many of us are now gonna crank up the old NES to try this.
Lost Spin-Offs
Last night I posted a link to a College-Humor video that someone made pointing out some possible loose ends to the "Lost" series. There were a few conclusions we were left to draw on our own, or some unfinished stories, which scream "Spin-Off". Here is a link discussing 10 Possible Lost Spin-Offs.

Lost Unanswered Questions -- Possible Spoilers
Just to start... if you haven't seen the last episode of Lost, you probably shouldn't watch this. Now with that said, I felt that the series finale wrapped up Lost fairly nicely, although I have a few loose ends I would like to see tied up. Whomever made this video had a lot of silly questions, some that can be answered by watching the show and drawing your own conclusions, others I would answer with "who cares", but to not reveal anything, I'll keep quiet for now.

Sweeded Ghost Busters
I came across this fan made Ghost Busters video yesterday and it's really well done. This was done by Improv Everywhere and I linked the site instead of just embedding the video because it tells a little more about the making of the video. It's a pseudo-reproduction of the Ghost Buster's opening scene.
*Bonus: Pretty unrelated, but I also found a fan made (?) Street Fighter Video that I really enjoyed. Probably not worth its own entry, but I thought I'd still share it.

Navy to use Wii Fit??
I got the Wii fit for Christmas as a gift. It's fun, and makes you move, but I'm not really sure on how much of a workout it gives you. Here is a CNET article telling how the Navy may use something like this in the early stages of boot camp. There's just a lot of humor imagining a group of recruits with buzzed hair standing in order on their wii fit pads doing the hula or flapping their wings like a chicken. I believe this is a method to start the ridiculously out of shape generation introduced into moving and in theory should cut down on bone injuries.

Geek Day
Today (May 25th) has been declared Geek Pride day (Wikipedia article). I've heard it mentioned a few times online today and was linked to this Geek/Nerd/Dork test on the OKCupid site. On the test I got the Tri-Lamb result showing that I'm a balanced geek.
According to the Wikipedia article that I linked today is a tribute to the initial release of the Star Wars movie and also coincides with Douglas Adams' Towel Day.

iPad vs. Virtual Boy

Lore Sjoberg from Wired's Alt Text never fails to please. Here is one of his latest articles comparing Apple's iPad to the failed Nintendo Virtual Boy. Two gadgets that seem too unrelated to compare, but yet he brings them together. Who knows, maybe the Virtual Boy is due up for a comeback.

Never Get Lost Again
After 6 years, Lost is now over. I spent 4 1/2 hours last night watching the Lost related material, and it's sad to think I'll never get to see a new episode of my favorite show again. No other show that I can remember has had this type of overall effect. It kept us thinking and if you've been watching since day 1, it's hard to believe how far it has come and how far it has developed. Here is a nice rap video as a tribute to Lost over these past 6 years.

Lost Fans More Annoying than Ever
Final Season Of 'Lost' Promises To Make Fans More Annoying Than Ever
I'm usually not much of a fan of the Onion, but this video was about Lost and since the Finale was last night, I thought I'd post this video. When you're a Lost fan, you're in a community of your own. If you're not, you're probably highly annoyed by us Lost fans.

Chinese Superhero Knockoff Toys
Remember the superhero "Robert Cop"? No one else does either, nor do they remember "Spader Man". Here is a site that posted some great articles on Chinese superhero knockoff toys. They actually did a part 2 to this as well, which may be better. There's something very familiar about these toys, but I just can't place it.

America's Most Harmful Drinks
I'm a big fan of beverages. Hot or cold, either way, it's a great way to enjoy delicious flavor. Unfortunately, many drinks can have more calories than some of the foods you would stay away from because they're bad for you. Here is a list of "20 of America's Most Harmful Drinks". The great thing about this article is it includes some of equivalent unhealthy foods so you can see just how unhealthy some of these drinks are.

The Geek Alphabet

I blogged a few weeks (or months ago) about the A-Z of awesomeness, but recently I came across "The Geek Alphabet" that is just as good. Not too much more to say, it just goes from A-Z and is stuff all us geeks love.

Excellent Motivational Speech Video
I saw this video a bit a go and really enjoyed it. This guy has a great attitude despite having no arms or legs. I saw this on Digg.com and they mentioned that they saw a YouTube comment saying "I know he's half of me, but I wish I was half of him....".

Things Not to Do on Facebook
Facebook is a great invention; it's a way to get back in touch with all those people you were glad you could forget. Here is a great article listed showing 10 Things Not to Do on Facebook. One of the most annoying things about it is the app accomplishments people post. I think both my wife and I get personal satisfaction from clicking hide on as many applications as we can.

There have been a lot of videos online about the "Most Useless" machine. The machine that when you turn off the switch, it immediately turns it back on. Here is a video of the machine made from Legos.

Celebrity Name Changes
I'm not that big of a fan of Hollywood/Celebrity gossip, but sometimes it can be interesting. A couple weeks ago, I came across this article about "Celebrity Name Changes" that I found rather interesting. I guess it is kinda silly to think someone named their kid "Whoopi". The article goes on to tell what some of their names used to be and why they were changed.

I Hope You Like My Blog, Alot

Last week I came across this site where the author expressed her frustrations with a few grammatical errors. The article is called "The Alot is Better Than You at Everything" and I still can't stop laughing when I read it. I'll just leave it up here for u.

Fake Yo-Yo Guy
Here's an interesting story about the Fake Yo-Yo Trickster. Pretty much its a guy who gets on TV morning shows by telling them he's good at the Y0-Yo when he's actually not. I actually feel a little bad for the guy, but he does it to himself. He may not be good at the Yo-Yo, but he has mad skills at trolling morning shows.

If Super Mario Were Made Today
The classic game of Super Mario Bros. was simple and yet a masterpiece. It helped launch the NES into stardom; Games nowadays just can't stack up. Here is a great piece of game humor showing what it would be like if Super Mario Bros. were released in this gaming age. As I mentioned the other day, games seemed to be becoming dumbed down. This is a humorous take on the situation.

Spider-Man Save the day and Geeks Win
Here is a great story of a comic book store owner dressed as Spider-Man stopping a comic book thief. The video with this story is great, but my favorite quote is "a group of Jedi knights blocked the door to prevent him from escaping, along with The Flash". Maybe he didn't stop the Green Goblin, but for one day that Spider-Man did indeed save the day.

Games are Too Easy Now
I remember as a kid, when I got a game, it was something special. I had to pour all my hours into it to master the timing and controls until I had a chance of beating the game (thinking specifically of Ninja Gaiden). Notice how I said mastering the timing and controls instead of watching the 30 minute long movies during the game. If I want to watch a movie I'll go to the cinema.
What brings about this small rant is this article today I read titled "As Gamers Get Older, There's a New Need for an Easy Button". The article is not that good, and in fact it's not even really mainly focused on what you would think it would be, but I felt the title was interesting. Maybe this is going to sound a bit odd for today's gaming age, but I feel games today have become too much about story line and graphics than gaming. It's great to have stunning graphics and a game story that captures you like a novel, but a lot of modern popular games leave out the challenge and fun that made systems like the NES so popular.
I haven't mentioned this before, because I felt like maybe it's just me that feels this way. I'm no longer the hardcore gamer I was as a kid. I still try to milk the games I buy for all they're worth, but maybe it's the type of games I'm buying. It could also be that having unlimited continues, ridiculous amounts of health, and rewinds during races (Forza 3--which I enjoy) were an oversight that have now been added to modern games as gaming has matured. It's not that games have to be ridiculously hard to be fun, just something other than ridiculously easy. Sorry about the small rant, but I think of this frequently when I have played games recently.

Hacking is Easy + "Everything is Terrible"
HACKING IS EASY! from Airwave Ranger on Vimeo.
I came across this video earlier today featuring a retro computer security video. I was reading the latest issue of Wired magazine a few minutes ago and came across a link talking about the site "Everything is Terrible" which did this video. Their site is dedicated to retro VHS videos and material. They're keep'n it old school.

Barking Interviewee
This video is one that I missed seeing until after it became viral. I'm posting it for anyone else who hasn't seen the "barking man". I saw another interview with him about this video and he's a regular guy who just happens to have a scary dog voice. The interview I saw (which I cannot find now) showed other dogs' reactions to a recording of this guy's barking (most were scared).
