Mona Lisa's Cholesterol

It's amazing what you get when you combine great classic art and a nerdy doctor. Here is an article about a doctor who has diagnosed several paintings with diseases. It describes Mona Lisa's cholesterol problems, but goes on to report several other issues with people who are subjects of paintings. Unfortunately the diagnosis is too little too late to do them any good.

Zombie Cat

This is perhaps one of the creepier stories I've posted on my blog. It's a story of a guy who buried his cat, and then finds it alive and trying to get into his house 9 months later. They forgot to mention that he buried the cat beyond the gate of the pet cemetery.

A to Z of Awesomeness

The other day while surfing I came across quite a great collection of art. In fact it's official title is "A to Z of Awesomeness". You can find just about all of your "awesome" characters listed here, from Dr. Who to Wolverine.

Dog Eats Car

I didn't see the video this morning, but I heard CNN talking about it. I just got home and watched the video of this dog eating the car, and I must say, it's pretty funny stuff. I'm not sure why the cop suck around while the dogs were eating his car. Not that I want to see any harm come to an animal, but the dogs would've figured out to move when he took off. All I can say is Om Nom Nom.

I haven't Stopped

Just a heads up... It's not that I've stopped blogging, just that I've had a busy week. Next week should be better.

TV Theme Medley

This video of a TV Theme Medley has been going around the Internet tonight so I thought I'd share it. It's really well done and best of all it includes the "Firefly" theme.

Your Life Online After Death

Ars Technica ran an article the other day about what happens to your online identity after your death. It looks like they did their homework and went to many of the popular social networks to ask that question. This kind of reminds me of the new SyFy show Carpica where a character created a program that searches various networks to try to recreate a person (based on their online personality). Anyhow, this was an interesting article that answers a question one might have in this new "Internet" era.

Steam Punk St. Patrick's Day Video

Because tomorrow is St. Patrick's day and you don't seen enough St. Patrik's day videos, I thought I'd share one that I came across a bit ago.

Dorritos Tablet

I'm sure this commercial will be all of the place soon, but it's very well done, and I haven't seen it on TV yet, so I thought I'd share it. I'm pre-ordering my Dorrito's Tablet now.

The 4 Types of Email Support Receive

This article is actually titled, "The 4 Types of Email Programmers Receive", I feel like these are related not only to programmers, but any IT person. Sometimes communication failures can be comical, but most of the time, 90% of an IT person's job is detective work.

Where is that NCAA School

The time has come for you to choose your NCAA bracket. Some of the schools are obvious based on their names (University of), but some of them you may not know. I present to you the 2010 Where is that NCAA School quiz. I'll go ahead and confess that I did horrible on this quiz, scoring only a 50%.... I guessed at most of them.

Wall of Death

This video circulated around the Internet last week and it's some pretty crazy stuff to say the least. I've seen the walls of death with motorcycles, but when you add cars with them, that's when it gets a little deadlier.

10 Things You Didn't Know about Super Mario

We've all probably played and completed the original Super Mario Bros. several different times, but here are 10 Things you may not have know about the game. Item number 2 mentions the "minus" world, which was always sort of a mythical creature to my brother and I growing up. We heard of it, and people said they knew someone who had done it, but try as we may, we never could get to it. Maybe in our version it had been patched out or maybe we just couldn't get the right angle, but Mario would not go through that brick.

Video Game Bosses Meeting

Video Game bosses didn't get to the leader position by being stupid. They know the problems, we'll blame it on their goons for making bad decisions (hiding powerups, etc.). Here is a humorous meeting called by Video Game bosses discussing some of the problems.

Blackberry Users Work More

I must admit, having a smart phone makes my life a lot easier. With it, I can check my email all hours of the day and night. A few days ago I came across this article showing that "Blackberry Users add 10 Days of Work a Year". To be honest, I'm not at all surprised. It's an example of working smarter, not harder. Not to say that a blackberry is better than another type of phone, it's just whatever works well for you. In the article it states that Blackberry users prefer email as their primary form of communication. I can for sure say this is true for most cases. Overall, I will say a Blackberry (or a smartphone in general), makes things much more efficient.

Geek Test

A friend sent me a link to this "Geek Test" earlier today, that I rather enjoyed. I guess I don't really need to take a quiz to tell me that I'm a geek, but it makes me feel like I belong in some sort of social taxonomy. Some of the questions are a bit dated and I can think of a lot more reasons that I'm a geek than what this lists. Anyway, I got a 49.3% on the quiz... feel free to share your score in the comments if you have the time to take the quiz.

Vacuum Collector

I came across this video about a kid vacuum cleaner collector a bit ago and found it quite interesting. It's a very "neat" hobby he's picked up, but I'd bet it doesn't make him the most popular kid in school. Who knows, he could be the next David Oreck.

Dorritos Stop Motion

I came across this great (but yet another) stop motion video featuring chips.

A Fantastic Traffic Idea

I'm not that big of a fan of driving. It's a necessity to get from place to place, but I'd rather, sit back and read a book or something less intense while someone else does the driving. Here is a great traffic idea called the 'Road Train' that could possibly be implemented in the future. I doubt we would see it anytime soon, but it's nice to dream.

Great Acoustic Videos

If you know me, you know I'm a fan of all types of music. Music is one of my favorite things, and it doesn't take a musical genius to appreciate when it is done well. Here is a link to "8 Must-See Instrumental Acoustic Guitar Music Videos". Watching all of them may take a little time, but it's well worth it. I think I've actually blogged about the "Andy McKee--Drifting" before, which is rather extraordinary.

Zelda Blind-Folded

Zelda games can be very challenging, but imagine trying to take on one blind-folded. The above video is a great story about a kid who made step-by-step instructions on how to beat a Zelda game blindfolded.

Ginger Ale on Planes

Next time you fly, notice the amount of people that are ordering Ginger Ale. It's actually just a little strange, but here is an article on why people who fly order Ginger Ale. I've never ordered it before on a plane, but who knows, next time I fly, I may order it just as just part of the experience.

Google, Kansas

It has been proclaimed by the Mayor that the city of Topeka will be called Google, Kansas. Sure it's not legally changed, but it's a great effort to become a testing site for Google's new highspeed fiber optic Internet. Suddenly I want to go to Google, Kansas. I actually did a Google map search for "Google, KS" and it took me to a place about 60 miles outside of Topeka. Anyway, stranger things have been done for better bandwidth.

Retro 80's Cereals

I remember as a kid one of my favorite things to do at the store was pick out my cereal for the week. I got to choose one, and my brother got to choose one; it was really a big deal. Now a lot of those 80's cereals are no longer around, and I'm told I should look for cereal with fiber instead of sugary goodness. In remembrance of 80's sugary goodness, here is a link to 30 Retro Breakfast Cereals. The sad part is, my memory works in a strange way and I can look at these boxes and sing many of the jingles for the advertisements they did on Saturday mornings. There are actually 3 of this guy's blog posts on this, they're linked at the top of his page.

Before E-Harmony

Before E-Harmony (or other dating sites), people had to find a mate by sending in a video of an interview with themselves. I haven't personally used E-Harmony, but it has to be much less uncomfortable than this.
