No More D&D for Inmates
Role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons can become all encompassing and take up a lot of time, which can be good for an inmate. The problem is, now D&D is no longer allowed to be played in prison. The reason given for disallowing it, wasn't that good "Dungeons & Dragons 'promotes fantasy role playing, competitive hostility, violence, addictive escape behaviors, and possible gambling'". Bonus: Penny Arcade did a comic on this subject.

15 Things You Need to Know about Coffee
The Oatmeal website has recently come out with several great articles with information we need to know. Here is one for us coffee fans called "15 Things You Need to Know about Coffee". Another interesting thing is the coffee fruit is sweet and delicious (I went to a coffee plantation and tried one).

AirTravel Like HealthCare
The debate nowadays isn't if the health care system is broken, but how to fix it. This video is a great depiction of some of the problems we have with health care here in America. Some is exaggerated, but the point is made.

Make Your Yard Like Your Favorite Field

You gotta love the way the grass from a professional baseball field looks. Here is an interesting concept for baseball fans. You can now buy the same grass seed for your yard that is used in certain baseball fields. I must admit, if I were in the market for grass seed, I would consider purchasing something like this (considering I'm a baseball fan).

Windows 3.1 -- The WebPage
A lot of my younger readers may not have had the joys of messing around with good old Windows 3.1. If not, you're probably not missing much, but here's your chance... kinda. Here is a website that is designed to look and work like Windows 3.11 . It's kinda impressive, working Minesweeper and DOS prompt. Only thing it's missing is Microsoft Bob.

How David Blaine Does It
The things magicians do is pretty amazing. When you find out how a trick is done, a lot of times it's so simple it'll make you angry that you fell for it. Here is an excellent video of Davide Blaine explaining how he held his breath 17 minutes. After watching this video, I have a lot more respect for him. It's a twenty minute video, but well worth watching.... Spoiler Alert: This trick was not in the least bit easy.

Yet Another Weird Japanese Video
I'm far from understanding Japanese television shows, but I kinda like them. This video does have some "slow" moments, but its pretty funny stuff nonetheless.

Wash Your New Clothes
I guess when you think about it, germs are everywhere. You never know when you're coming in contact with something really nasty. Here is an investigation showing some of the nasty stuff you can get even from your new clothes. The study is a little disturbing, but as previously mentioned, germs are everywhere. I don't think they're trying to encourage you to be a germiphobe, but just to be aware that your new clothes aren't necessarily as clean as you may think.

Conan Old School Baseball
I've been watching Conan O'Brien since he first aired in 1993. I'm a huge fan. Thought I'd post this video just to remind us all how great of a comedian he is.

Duct Tape Saves the Day Again
I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be flying in a plane made mostly of duct tape, but I guess you do what you need to with the given circumstances. Here is a story of a guy whose plane got attacked by a bear, so he remade it with duct tape. Now, it's probably more sturdy than a 747.

First-Person Tetris
I'm not much of a fan of First-Person shooter games. It's not that they're bad, it's just they're not my preference. What's worse is First-Person Tetris. The only great thing about this game is that it's Tetris, after that it all goes down hill. You may not want to play this game after a heavy meal.

American Economy Rap
It's no secret that the economy isn't really in a good state. Here is a really well done rap that goes through some of the issues we face as well as how to save money. It starts off a little slow, but the guy in the orangutan outfit makes it all worthwhile.

John Wall Dance
I was going through last week's issue of Sports Illustrated and read the article about John Wall of the KY Wildcats. It mentioned "The John Wall Dance" which is a part of pop culture that passed me by. I went onto YouTube and found the video, but this one I found to be much better.

Worst Gadgets
Some inventions that come out never catch on the way we would hope, and some are just bad ideas that somehow made it anyway. Here is a great gallery of 50 of the Worst gadgets of the Decade. If anything else, this gallery will send you down memory lane, but some of these you may want to forget.

Put Your Finger where Your Mouth is...
Here is a video of a new technology that I hope catches on. This guy is so confident in his invention that he tests it out on himself. I must admit, I was a little nervous watching him as he stuck his finger near the saw.

Downloading more RAM
A friend sent me this site "DownloadMoreRam.com" earlier today and I got a good laugh out of it. I've been trying to think of something clever to say about it, but I'm left speechless. The testimonies are pretty priceless.
Edit: This one also goes under my "If it's on the Internet it has to be true" category

100 Gamer Cupcakes

It's a gamer's dilemma, what's better "Food or Games". When you combine both, it's bound to be successful. Here is a link to 100 gamer cupcakes. The site is kind of a game of it's own. You try to guess which game each cupcake represents. You can mouse over the question mark beside the cupcake and see what game is represented. I loved seeing the "Adventure" cupcake, I hadn't thought of that game in years, but I loved it when I was a kid.

How Long Could You Survive in a Tauntaun

Some questions linger out there, but are never answered. One of those is "How long could you survive in a tauntaun". Being a lifelong Star Wars fan, I've pondered on this a few times as well. My conclusion was that there's just not enough data to know. This article does go through some of the common discussion points on this topic, but then the commentators really go at it. Check out not only the article, but the comments below it.

How Not to Look Like a Tool using Bluetooth
As I found out a few months ago, sometimes there are reasons to get a blue tooth headset (or a tool kit as my wife calls it). The trick is, having one and not looking like a complete tool. This video goes through several valid points that may help.

Great Article About Freezing to Death

I'll come right out and say it, I hate winter and the cold. According to a story I read a bit ago, this winter (2009-2010) is going to be one of the coldest in a while. With that in mind, be careful when you go outside and don't take any unnecessary risks. I also found this really great article from 1997 about freezing to death. It takes you through a scenario that could happen to anyone and what the body goes through when it is exposed to extreme temperatures. It's a little bit long, but well worth reading.

Duct Tape Prom
It's been said that with a hammer and some duct tape (also WD-40), just about anything can be fixed. Here is a great site featuring several prom outfits made from duct tape. Not only does it make for a stylish look, but there is also a contest offering a $3000 scholarship for the best duct tape outfit.

Nicholas Cage as Everyone
To be honest, watching a Nicholas Cage movie just makes me laugh(not that they're bad). I'm not quite sure why, perhaps because he's over dramatic, but even his serious movies are funny. Here is a link to a blog whose sole purpose is to substitute Nicholas Cage as Everyone. The photos are a little silly, but make you wonder why he's not in some of these roles.

Star Wars with Laugh Track
A lot of the sitcoms out today have a ridiculous amount of laugh tracks (Big Bang Theory in particular). One movie you would never expect to have one is Star Wars... this video demonstrates just how different it can make a movie.
