World's Scariest Foods

I'm a fan of food, but there is only so weird I'm willing to go. Here is a list of some of the World's Scariest Foods. It can be debated that what is "scary food" is up to the partaker, but some of these wouldn't really be debate. I could try some of these without being squeamish, but the pufferfish that has to have a licensed food preparer because it's so poisonous and the octopus that could suffocate you scare me a little. So, why not celebrate your Halloween by eating some scary food, like Jell-o.

10 General Rules of the Internet

If you surf a lot of forums and such on the Internet, there are certain rules you must know. Here are a list of "10 Rules of the Internet". A lot of these I knew already (Godwin's and such), but the others make a lot of sense. The article is a little odd, but if you do read and write to forums they may be useful to you (especially if you are a debater).

Video Game Proverbs

It seems that you rarely hear the benefits of playing video games. Turns out, there are a lot of life's lessons you can learn from them. Here is a list of video game proverbs that will make a lot of sense to you if you're a gamer. OK, so maybe they're not that beneficial to learn, but they're entertaining, and that counts for something.

Yet Another Star Wars Song

There are tons of Star Wars songs out on the Internet. Many which have been featured on this blog. A friend linked this video on Facebook the other day and I enjoyed it. It's a little dated, but still worth watching.

Bat Costume Scare

Tis the season for weirdos in costumes. This is an entertaining video with good music to go along with it. The scene on the subway was very impressive. Creepy!

Something Amazing

Videos like this are what the Internet was made for, and that's what is amazing. Enjoy.

The Windows 7 Whopper

Today is a special day for Microsoft. It is the day they are release Windows 7. Windows Vista didn't pan out, so today is the day they attempt to fix their mistake. In celebration of this, Burger King in Japan is releasing the Windows 7 Whopper, featuring 7 whopping patties of meat (AED not included). For the health of Japan, I hope these go the way of Vista. On a side note, the Win 7 Whopper doesn't really compare to the 100x100 burger.

Too Drunk to get Beer

Worst Shopping Run Ever - Watch more Funny Videos
If you need a reason not to drink in excess, here is one for starters. When you're this drunk, chances are you don't need to go to the store for more beer... or walk. I actually feel kind of bad for laughing at him when he falls down, but it's funny. Hopefully his plans didn't involve driving, but a good nap in a jail cell.

Note: the video freezes up between 17 and 37 seconds, but keep with it.

Twitter #RealChuckNorris

If you don't use twitter, you're missing out. Chances are you may not want to tell people what you're doing (and that's understandable), but you have the opportunity to follow people/companies you enjoy/find clever. I've heard it compared to sliced bread, but I won't got that far. Anyhow, yesterday I came across this twitter tag I've found quite interesting... it's called #realchucknorris. We've all heard of the Chuck Norris Facts webpage. This is kind of Anti-that. It's people thinking of clever ways to take a common Chuck Norris fact that you expect to be extreme and make it normal. For example a few of my favorites so far are:
"Chuck Norris had a flat tire once. He was displeased, but used the donut."
"Chuck Norris can eat just one Lay's potato chip. It's pretty easy, actually."
"Once a waiter was rude to Chuck Norris so Chuck Norris left a substandard tip."

Scientifically the Worlds Most Annoying Song

If you turn on popular radio, chances are you'll hear an annoying song after a few stations. If you've ever wondered what the most annoying song ever might be (there has to be one, although it's kind of subjective), here is a scientific attempt at the most annoying song. I must admit, at first I thought "Hey, this isn't too bad", but it get much much worse. I listened to all 20+ minutes of it and wanted to tear my ears off. So, with that as a warning, click on the link, sit back and enjoy. The best part is, it's a free .mp3 download if you want it.

Don't get an XXXXXXX Vanity Plate

There are some interesting vanity plates out there. Here is a story of how one vanity plate got a guy $19,000 in parking tickets. Apparently this is cause by the data entry system officers use to input parking tickets in their system. They tag them as XXXXXXX (seven X's). I found this to be one of those unfortunate oddities in life, at least he has legal ground to stand on if they come after him for their money.

Real Life PopEye

One of the Popeye's identifying characteristics is his giant forearms. They seem a little impossible, but here is a German arm-wrestler who has a similar arm. What is also odd about this guy is although his right arm is huge, his left arm is miniature in comparison. He looks a little lopsided. A friend sent me this last night and said ti had my blog written all over it. Someone get this guy some spinach, a pipe, and a sailors hat.

I Kept Playing

I'm awake a little later than usual this evening for no reason really, but I just finished reading this great article on Everquest addiction called "I Kept Playing". Anyone who has known me for around 10 years (which isn't many of you) knew how much I got into this game. This article really hit home for me. I didn't quit my job and I managed to keep my girlfriend (now wife), but a lot of what this guy wrote sounded way too familiar. I worked with a lot of the people who played with me, so when I was working that's what I talked about, what I thought about, and what I researched. It did take up a lot of study time in college. I totally understand where he was talking about the people online depending on you and worry about you if you missed a few days. This is one reason I haven't started in on WoW (World of Warcraft) because I know how addicted I got to Everquest. Great Read!

Super Mario World Proposal

It's been way too long since I've featured a geeky wedding proposal here on my blog. Here is one of the best I've seen in a while. It's a proposal on a mod of one of the greatest games of all time (Super Mario World). The best part is she's busy collecting the coins so he has to direct her to get the entire message.

Ron "Typewriter" Mingo

The other day a co-worker sent me this video of Ron Mingo and his amazing typing skills back in the day. These were some pretty 133t skills back in the day, especially considering he was using an old school typewriter.

Large Collection of Gamer Cupcakes

I'm not sure what is better, receiving or eating a nicely decorated cupcake. Here is a collection of gamer cupcakes. I must admit, making an 8-bit character by using cupcakes as pixels is a great idea.

Another Extreme Sport I Will Not Try

I guess when it comes to being extreme, I'm a bit yellow. Here's yet another example I can give why I wouldn't want to do extreme sports. With that said, and considering you survive, this looks like fun.

Robot - 0 -Lanterns

Just in time for Halloween are these great Robot Jack-0-Lanterns. I think I may have had one or two of these on here before, but 'tis the season. They're the only Jack-O-Lanterns that will carve you after you finish carving them. Now get to carving, and keep the rivets handy.

10 GUI

Windows 7 is going to be officially released soon. Have you ever wondered what the next computers will look like? Here is something that was sent to me earlier, that completely replaces the mouse. It is call 10/GUI and it completely replaces the mouse. I think it's a bit far off, but it's interesting. The video is a little long, but you're bored or you wouldn't be here.

US Life Expectancy Chart

No one likes to think about it, but part of life is death. The looming question is when. Here is a life expectancy guide of the US by state. It's actually not as impressive as it sounds, but it is still informative. I really enjoyed the line chart at the bottom of death probability. I now have yet another reason to move to Hawaii (as if there wasn't reason enough).

Geek Rocking Your Baby to Sleep

On Friday I received a great email via a Linux User Group mailing list on how to use technology to rock your baby to sleep. I'm not sure I would do this, but I feel comforted that someone did. The best part is, you don't only get a demonstration, but you also get teh code on how to do it using several platforms. Now all you need is an old computer, the know how to execute simple programs, and a baby.

Proving the Obvious

There are some things in life you just know to be true, no proof required. What if you wanted to prove them anyway? Here is an excellent Popular Science article about some obvious things confirmed. I found some of these quite intriguing.

Shooting the Moon

Straight out of a Sci-Fi (or SyFy if you prefer) movie, a bomb is to be dropped on the moon. This is straight out of the "What could possibly go wrong" department, but we're launching a bomb at the moon to test for water. Seems like we've ran out of people to bomb on this planet, time to start with our moon friends.

Fan Uplifted after Fall

I don't often put "feel good" stories on here, but here is one that was shared with me earlier today. Since this is the day beginning the baseball playoffs, it's only appropriate to have a baseball story. This is a story of a guy who took his son to a baseball game for his 21st birthday, fell over the rail trying to retrieve a ball, and was helped by Albert Puljos. Once again, my description fails to make the article sound good, but I assure you, it's worth reading. I did some searching and found the actual footage from the St. Louis Cards site.

Fanmade Star Wars

I was checking some of the Slashdot posts last night when I came across this post on a "Fanmade Star Wars film". Let's face it, the props in Star Wars were a little low budget, now here's your chance to make your own. The trailer on the link is pretty good. The rules for this are, you sign up for a 15 second clip of a scene, remake the scene, it gets voted on and if you win, it's in the movie. I've checked a few of these and some are pretty good, others are really bad. To be honest, a lot fall in the bad category, but that's what make some of them good.

American Gothic Parodies

I've been fortunate to see the painting "American Gothic" a few times now in person at the the Chicago art museum. I'm sure most people have seen at least a picture of it (man with a pitchfork and a lady beside him), whether on a commercial or in a pop culture reference. Here is a link to several Parodies of American Gothic.

Chese Facts

Something everyone can agree on is cheese. Just about everyone loves it, and it can even stand alone. Here is a link to "10 Fascinating Facts about Cheese". I must admit, the first few aren't that great, but they get much better.... just like an aged cheese.

Storm Troopers in Their Time Off

Storm Troopers can't work 24/7, so it makes you wonder what they do in their time off. Here's a link showing some pictures of Storm Troopers like you don't usually see them. This page goes to show that when you take a Storm Trooper and place them out of context, there result is almost always funny.

Ig Nobel Prize Winners Announced

I'm not sure how many people have heard of the Ig Nobel Prizes, but they're really neat. Pretty much they're silly, yet practical Science projects. They prove that Science is fun. How Stuff Works did a great podcast and article about it explaining it much better than I did.
Now that you know about it, the Winners this year were recently announced. I enjoyed reading through what got the prizes.

15 Ugliest Cars

It seems like I've blogged on this before, but I enjoy cars pretty and ugly alike. Here is a list of the 15 ugliest cars. When I saw the title, I had to look to see if the Pontiac Aztec was there because no ugly car list would be complete without it. I'm surprised the Ford Maverick didn't make it, but no list is perfect. To be honest I like a lot of the vehicles listed here.

People of Walmart

When I got word that I would be moving, in the places we were considering, we took trips to the local Walmart. You can tell a lot about the local culture as well as the local weirdos by going to Walmart. Here is a site called "peopleofwalmart.com" that shows just what you expect, the interesting people you see at Walmart. Kind of like an airport, it's a great place to people watch, and you're going to see all types.
